An AI-guided Learning Loop using interactive multimedia posters
We're exploring the next version of Canvastera. Instead of AI creating projects for students, we want to help students think, create, explain and improve their own work.
Inviting students, teachers, educational organizations and Horizon Europe research partners to help shape what comes next.
AI can already create text, presentations and visual content in seconds. But a finished project doesn't necessarily mean a student understands the topic.
We want to explore a different approach. Students create their own interactive explanations, while AI helps them identify gaps, ask better questions and improve their work.
AI supports the process.
Students make the decisions.
Explore ideas. Make your understanding visible. Use feedback to take it further.
Ask questions.
Connect ideas.
Build an interactive
explanation.
Find the gaps.
See new perspectives.
Make a change.
Reflect on why.
One lesson. One interactive poster. One Learning Loop.
The teacher asks students to explain how photosynthesis works. Students discuss what they already know and explore short learning materials prepared by the teacher.
AI's proposed role A short hint if students need help understanding the task.
“How could we explain this to someone else?”
Student ideas · illustrative exampleStudents combine text, diagrams, images and their own media in an interactive poster. AI stays in the background and could help when requested.
Proposed Mobile Capture Students could scan a code on their computer, record a short explanation on their phone, and add it to their poster without leaving their classroom activity.
Plants need sunlight and water.
Students have a first version of their poster. They ask the AI Coach to review their explanation and how clearly the poster presents it.
The coach could check both the explanation and the visual design, helping students spot missing information or a layout that is difficult to follow. Students would decide what to change.
Students stay in control They decide whether and how to respond.
Plants need sunlight and water.
✦ AI Coach · conceptYou've shown sunlight and water. But where does the plant get its carbon dioxide? How could you make this clearer?
Students revise their poster and share the result with the teacher. Before finishing, they answer one short question:
What did you improve, and why?
A short experience that combines creativity, communication, teamwork and feedback.
Plants use energy from sunlight, water and carbon dioxide to make sugars, releasing oxygen.
✓ Revised by the students
“We added where carbon dioxide comes from so the process is clearer.”
Students use AI feedback to decide how to improve their work.
A regular editor helps students combine and arrange content.
“Plants need sunlight and water.”
The proposed AI Coach could review the explanation and visual design, then suggest ways to make the ideas clearer.
“Good start. Where does the plant get the carbon dioxide it needs?”
Students choose what to change and improve their explanation.
“Plants use energy from sunlight, water and carbon dioxide to make sugars, releasing oxygen.”
Illustrative example. The student improves the explanation; AI does not generate the finished project.
Could this improve understanding, communication, engagement and teaching practices? These are research questions, not proven outcomes of Canvastera 2.0.
This is a proposed concept, not a finished product. What would make it useful, practical and enjoyable?

Canvastera already provides an interactive multimedia poster editor. We propose building on this technology to investigate how an AI-guided Learning Loop could support students and teachers.
We're seeking an experienced university, research institution or other eligible organization to lead proposal preparation and project coordination.

The effective use of artificial intelligence in learning environments in pre-primary and primary education.
This topic focuses on pre-primary and primary education. The final project scope and funding call would be selected with potential partners.
Expressions of interest would be non-binding. No consortium agreement has been finalized and no EU grant has been awarded. Future participation would depend on mutual agreement and the requirements of the selected funding call.
